Brief
Part of the architecture, not furnishing.
Designed by Pedevilla Architekten, the Kössen education centre was to support flexible learning spaces for modern teaching. The clear, pared-back architecture with a carefully considered colour and material concept set the framework – Variand was to become a functional part of the interior architecture.
Solution
Boards that travel along the wall.
Variand wall rails were used in every classroom, complemented by specially developed whiteboards and enamelled steel boards. They are extremely durable and can be moved flexibly along the rails on rolling mounts – so learning content can be quickly adapted, rearranged or shared. New rail types were created for the project: with an integrated clamping rail for clamping paper and with inset steel strips for magnetic use. All rails were matched to the colour concept in a specific shade of red – 246 metres of wall rail in total.

Result
Even the corridor becomes a learning space.
The furniture does not just structure the rooms, it actively contributes to the quality of the learning environment – flexible, durable and precisely integrated in its design. Even the circulation areas became active learning and exhibition zones.
